Take a ride of some of the hot spots of Sentosa island.Merlion : One of the most enduring symbol of Singapore is the Merlion. It is because of the Merlion that Singapore is called the Lion City and this half-lion, half-fish is about 37 metres high. This Merlion on the Sentosa was sculpted and designed by James Martin, an Australian artist. This is made of Glass Reinforsed Cement over a steel armature and is attached to the central lift core. This statue recalls the legendary tale of Sang Nila Utama. This person saw a lion while hunting in Singapore. The Merlion legend is commemorated on the Sentosa island. The Merlion of the Sentosa island was opened in 1996 and is the tallest Merlion of Singapore. The Merlion is also called the 'Sea Lion' and the tourists can go to the top of the Merlion for a panoramic view of the Sentosa island. A pre-show introduces the tourist to the sea mysteries and a lively music follows them as the walk by the dioramas depicting lake monsters, mermaids, sea serpents etc. The interior of the Merlion is enthralling. Underwater World : This is the Underwater World oceannarium on Sentosa and houses more than 2,500 fishes from 250 species. You can start your Underwater World tour with the Touch Pool to experience the stingrays, baby sharks and star fish. The visitors can venture into the depths of the ocean via a travellator. It ferries through a tunnel which is 83-meter long. And if you love to get wet then you can try the interesting activities like 'Dive with the Dugong' or 'Dive with the Sharks'. These activities at the Underwater World are mind blowing. Come close with the sharks and marine life at 'Dive with the Sharks' package. It is opened from 9 am to 9 pm daily. So experience a fun filled discovery at this destination in Sentosa island .
Songs of the Sea : Songs of the Sea on the Sentosa island began on 26th March , 2007. This one has replaced the Musical Fountain Show which was about 25 years old. It is an entertainment product of Sentosa to attract the tourists. This is the only permanent show which is set in sea and has spectacular pyrotechnics displays, lasers and flame bursts. Songs of the Sea has open-air viewing gallery and accommodates 2,500 visitors. The show takes place twice daily for 25 minutes. The entry fee is S$10.00 per person. Sentosa island's Songs of the Sea is mesmerizing and captivating .
Dolphin Lagoon : The Dolphin Lagoon on Sentosa island is in the Underwater World. It houses humpback dolphins which are Indo-Pacific. In the Meet-the-Dolphins sessions the visitors are allowed to enter the pool which is waist-deep and can interact with the humpback dolphins. The tourists can also extensively interact with the dolphins at the Swim-with-the-Dolphins session at Sentosa .You can also avail a fun ride in the Dolphin Lagoon with the experience of 'dorsal tow'.The admission fee is S$150 per person.
